Teacher Appreciation Week

This is the end of Teacher Appreciation Week and I thought I would end this week by showing how much I appreciate SOME of my children's teachers.  Sure you are always going to have a teacher that you just don't gel with and that's OK, but with my boys who are still in the public school setting, they have some great teachers.  Both of my boys have Special Education teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty, mainly my youngest son's teacher.  My son has put her through hell and back on some days and yet she still handles each day with a smile on her face.

My other son's Special Education teacher does a lot for him too, it was her along with her paraprofessional who got my son over the reading hump.  My son is in 4th grade and is just now starting to be able to read on his own.  He still struggles a lot, but he's becoming a bit more independent with it.  Also his writing has gone off the charts in my opinion.  But if you look at where he is compared to his peers, he's doing the writing of a 2nd grader.  But that's OK, he's writing and I'm a proud momma!

Both of my boys enjoy writing their own little stories.  They see me working on my book, and they want to be like mom, so they've both started writing Star Wars stories and Monster Truck stories... their favorite topics.

So I know this isn't a long post today, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of the wonderful teachers out there who are in this profession because they truly love what they do, the impact that they can have on a child, and loving these kids, even on their bad days.

Until next time...

  1. It must fall during the same time in the US? We just had Teacher appreciation week too. Everyone sent in lightbulb outlines with words inside... I made pumpkin cupcakes from scratch, decorated them and added a special personal note. Why not right? Even though they're not doing everything they say they are, I decided... Eh, kill them with kindness!

  2. I agree. Our two IEP's this time around went fairly well. I'm pleased with the accommodations that are put in place for next year. I again pushed for the special school when Garrett starts 6th grade. I can't believe my babies are getting that old!!! Next year Nathan is going to be in 4th grade and Garrett in 5th. That means that Nathan and Garrett are going to have their special education classes together. Math, Reading, Writing, and Social Skills they will be together. Oh and cooking! Nathan still has adaptive gym, moderated music and art with his aide. He needs a lot of guidance still.

    1. I'm glad you found me!!! I'll be sure to follow you too! We used to live in WV! We spent 2 years in Charleston and then moved north to Huntington where my 2 boys were born back in 2001 & 2002. We left WV because my youngest son was born with a rare birth defect and a doctor in Morgantown told us that they didn't know enough about his condition and that he would probably die by age 3... he'll be 10 next month. We moved to Wisconsin in 2004... but we still have our accent, which people ask me all the time "you're not from around here, are you?" I just laugh!
