Let The Blogathon Begin!

The day has come when the blogathon begins... so I thought I would start by talking about my current manuscript that I'm writing.  It's titled The Path Less Chosen and is the story of my life, from the day I was given to my parents by Catholic Charities (I was adopted at 7 weeks of age) up to the present.  I will share for the first time about my 21 years of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional), about my molestations, my rape and all of my bad choices in men... before I found "The One" who I am married to.  My book talks about what it was like becoming a mom at 19 and choosing to stay single, and then doing it again 1 1/2 years later and still refusing to marry the biological father.  My second daughter was born with Down syndrome and hydrocephalus.  I married my husband and we quickly added another daughter to our family, she was born with cerebral palsy and later diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, mood disorder, an eating disorder, anxiety disorder and amblyopia.  Three years later I suffered an ectopic pregnancy, then the following year I had our son Noah who was stillborn.  I thought I would never return from the black hole that I sunk into, but 2 months later I found myself pregnant with my next son and then one year later I was bringing home my next son.  My first son is cognitively impaired and is diagnosed with PDD-NOS.  My youngest son was born with Fetal Valproate Syndrome, static encephalopathy (due to a traumatic delivery), mood disorder, he too is cognitively impaired and has PDD-NOS.  My husband is also diagnosed with 13 conditions that the present time thanks to his time in Desert Storm.

My book is about the many triumphs that my children has had, the challenges that we've faced as a family and how we've made it through.  I've also lost both of my parents, my mother in 1997 to breast, bone and brain cancer, and my father just 7 months ago to renal failure and cardiac issues.  I've suffered many losses in my life, but I am still a fighter and will overcome any obstacle that is put in my path.  After all, I am the glue that holds my family together!

Until next time....

  4. Mimi,

I've read all of your blogs for this month and with each one I wonder about any animals you might have. I'm extremely interested in the human-animal bond and I've seen animals help people overcome some extreme circumstances. That's why my blog is focused on it. You can read my first post ever which tells a little more about me.

Also, with each post, I'm struck by how strong you are. I hope that with this blogathon you'll find some good friends that you can lean on when you need a break.

    1. Hi Sarah,
Yes, we have animals, 3 cats and a dwarf bunny. We just lost our dog Dakota in Feb. Izzy belongs to my 24yr old daughter Bethany, CJ belongs to my 15yr old daughter Maurra, and Seymour Butts belongs to me. I inherited him from a friend. He belonged to her fiance and their wedding was coming up and she is deathly allergic to cats, so she needed a home for him, so I decided to take him. He's 9yrs old and 23 pounds - he's part Maine Coon. He's gorgeous and loves sleeping inbetween our pillows on our bed. :-)

I will check out your blog, I'm trying to keep up with everyone but it's so hard! I also hope I find a friend or two through this blogathon, it would be nice to have someone to "chat" with over the internet. I don't have many friends here in WI.

  7. I'm just reading your response to my post now! :( sorry it's taken so long to get back, I have to do everything from my iPhone and it's not easy to make comments due to the keyboard and screen size. Blech. I love reading your writing! Eventually I will send you my suggestions... :)

    1. I know how busy you are, so I'm not stressing... As long as you tell me your suggestions at some point, I'll be happy! :-) I'm still plugging away with my book, and have already started the second one because I got stuck with the first. I'm hoping to get back to it today while the youngin's are in school.
