The Influence For My Writing

On our Blogathon that I am participating in, we are supposed to blog about the 5 movies that has influenced us in our writing, BUT... since I am not a movie watcher (except for the Twilight series) I decided to write about the 5 Oracle decks that has influenced me in my writing instead.  You know me, everything goes back to my Oracle decks when I'm stuck.

These 5 decks are the ones that I use the most.  The deck in the upper left hand corner is the Soul Cards deck 1 and they are the cards that I use for my professional readings.  Next to it is the Soul Cards deck 2 that I sometimes use for myself.  Next to that deck is the Path of the Soul deck which like Soul Cards deck 1 & 2, all of the information comes intuitively, there are no words on the cards, which I love.  On the bottom left is my Goddess Guidance Oracle deck which I use for my personal readings, along with my Messages from Your Animal Spirit Guides deck which I also use when I need to connect with my animal guides.

This is the Soul Cards deck 1.

This is the Goddess Guidance Oracle deck.

How these decks have influenced my writing is simple.  I was doing a reading for myself one day, I wasn't quite sure where I was going in life and I hear as plain as day "It's time to write the story of your life.  Many need to hear what you have to say."  This message came from my great-great-great grandfather Chief White Cloud of the Ojibwa tribe who is in very close contact with me.  He guides me often and his advice has always been spot on.  He comes with great wisdom, so I try really hard to listen to him.

In the writing of my book The Path Less Chosen I often go back to my cards for advice or for direction.  My cards play a huge role in my life as I use them often.  Being that I am writing about my abusive childhood, the rough road of being a teenaged mom and then having disabled children, there are a lot of emotions in my book, but so far it is going very well.  I'm moving at a nice pace and hope to hit the publishers within the next few months.  I am very passionate about my book and hope that others get good information out of it.  No matter how stressful my life seems, I can always stay focused and positive and always look for the silver lining.  The glass is always half full, never half empty.  So even though I am a first time writer, I feel that I am off to a good start.

Until next time...

  1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts—and your Tarot decks. I'll sometimes turn to Tarot for a writing prompt when I'm stuck in a particular story. I've long loved the Ancestral Path deck, though there are several others I'll use from time to time as well.

    1. I'm not familiar with the Ancestral Path deck, I'll have to check that one out sometime. I have so many decks, but they are each used for different situations or reasons. I'm not sure why I do that, I guess it's a comfort zone thing with me. They do help point me in the right direction with my writing and it also helps me with guidance in situations. Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog post for today!

  2. How did you get into reading Tarot Cards, Mimi? I'm fascinated by cards, in general, and had a Tarot Card reading only once in my life and don't remember much about it. But I'll never forget the time I stayed at a B&B in Jerome, Ariz., and the owner of the place got up every morning to read her cards. I was very curious and wish I'd asked her more about that.

    1. It started several years ago when I got a job in a shop doing mediumship work. The owner also wanted me to open my readings with the cards, so I found the most difficult deck to read, which are my Soul Cards and allowed my intuitive senses give me the information from the cards. I can look at the same card 3 times and get 3 different messages, all depending on who the reading is for and their current situation. I'm now trying to teach my soon-to-be 16 year old how to read cards. I bought her a simple to use deck and we're working on protection first because you always want to protect yourself from any negative energy that can come through into a reading because after all, I am reaching out into the Universe to grab the information. :-) I love what I do, I've been a medium for 29 years and have only ran into a few bad spirits - not very often at all. Thanks for visiting my blog!!

  3. Using the cards in your writing has come up in several blogs this week. I even wrote about it myself for the Blogathon (http://amethysttarot.com/telling-a-story-with-the-cards/). I'd love to see more examples on how you used and interpreted specific cards!

    1. I will try and work on this sometime this week, right now tomorrow's blog is going to be on tattoos, are they artwork or a fad? I've been planning this blog post for several days so the time has come to post it. I loved the story you told on your blog! I loved how you interpreted the cards - I'm not familiar with tarot cards, so I would have had a hard time with it, but you did great! I've always been more at ease with oracle decks than tarot. Not sure why. :-)

    1. Barb, I would be happy to do a spread for you one day if you're interested. I don't charge anything at the moment because I'm no longer "working" in the field, because I quit to write my 2 books... but I'd be happy to do an email reading for you anytime that you would like. You can email me if you are interested. (mom2blmgn@gmail.com)

    1. Hi Dwight! I took a peek at your blog, quite interesting! I am originally from the Chicago are. Was born there, but raised in Darien. (suburb by Bolingbrook & Downers Grove) I lived right off of I-55. I now live in Wisconsin, but not after living in SC, VA, FL & WV - my hubby was a military man. We're settled down here in NE WI near Green Bay. It's very nice to "meet" you!

  6. Reading this is really bringing back memories of when I used my Tarot deck too. It's always so amazing to find what you do within the cards drawn. I hope yours foretell many riches and tremendous success!

  7. They are telling me that I am going to have success with my book and that my main goddesses that I work with are supporting me, along with my ancestors. Great, great, great grandpa is helping me write my second book which I started yesterday. I wasn't planning on starting it until I was done with my first book, but the juices were flowing yesterday so I took to the keyboard.
