Kitty Litter Cake!!!
Last week I had promised my people at my local Sprint store that I would make them a kitty litter cake since no one had ever heard or seen one before. I love making this particular cake because it brings out so many different comments from people, it really tickles me.
So, two days ago I made the cake first thing in the morning so it would be ready when the store opened up at 10:00. How I make this cake is simple:
1 box of spice cake mix
1 box of vanilla/yellow cake mix
8 vanilla sandwich cookies
6 vanilla sandwich cookies (used separately)
green food coloring (or you can use green sugar sprinkles)
2 individual packages of Little Debbie Brownies
1 new kitty litter pan
1 new kitty pooper scooper
I make the cake per the boxes instructions and allow it to cool for 45 minutes. While the cake is cooling, I put my 6 vanilla sandwich cookies into a food processor and grind them up until they are powder-like. Then I add a few drops of green food coloring to the ground up cookies and grind again to color all cookie crumbs. Then I do the same thing with the 8 vanilla sandwich cookies only this time I do not color them. (this is the topping) Once the cakes have cooled, I cut the cake into 12 pieces (to make it easier to grab) and start tearing apart each piece and placing into the kitty pan. Once you've crumbled up both cakes into the kitty litter pan, mix well with you hands. Then take the powdered vanilla cookies without the food coloring and sprinkle over the top of the crumbled cake. Then after that is done, take the green powdered cookies and sprinkle on top. Then the last step is to roll your "poopies". Take the brownies and tear apart into 4 pieces, each piece you want to roll into a ball first, then roll it between your hands to form as kitty poops and lay into the box.
Voila! You have kitty litter cake!!
My people at Sprint, some had trouble eating the "poopies", while others loved it. They couldn't get past the realistic look of the "poop". LOL
Until next time....

Oh my. I have 4 cats and I scoop every day. I am not sure I could eat this cake either. Worst thing is the dogs eat the real thing if I am not watching closely.
ReplyDeleteWe have 3 cats and we scoop every day as well. Our dog Dakota used to try an eat the real stuff too, I think watching him constantly was like watching a toddler constantly! The cake really is very good though - if you can get past the poopies! (brownies)
DeleteThis would go great with my "hair ball" rice crispy treats! ;)
ReplyDeleteOoohhhh, I'm intrigued. Tell me more!
DeleteJ/K, I had to make a funny with something called Kitty Litter Cake! :). Although, now I admittedly am thinking of ways to actually create hair ball rice crispy treats... Dilemma's, Dilemma's. Lol
ReplyDeleteWhen you figure out how to make hair ball rice crispy treats, you let me know... I want to make them! Maybe something with cotton candy as the "hair"? My mind is running loose now! Thinking... thinking...thinking....
