With our youngest son who is 9 and also cognitively impaired, he has a meltdown every night before bed... so this is what we do to help calm him down. We tell him to "blow up your balloons" and then he takes his clinched fists and slowly opens them as he's blowing air out his mouth (like blowing up a balloon). It seems to help - it's not perfect, but I thought I would pass it along to you to see if it might help your nephew.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I really appreciate it!
~Mimimom2blmgnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11361897200470397175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-370596056972161982.post-20998871174812578462012-05-18T11:00:21.477-07:002012-05-18T11:00:21.477-07:00Ah! He has autism and I've been raising him since he was a baby. He just turned four. Things are slowly getting easier as "T" gets older.

I hope the brothers stay close through life! It's a wonderful thing. Thank you for sharing!

P.S. I just stopped by to say "hi!" I just joined the Under 100 Group on Cyber Connect, too. :)Kittenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08276005065292102669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-370596056972161982.post-31379380766114217932012-05-15T09:31:03.080-07:002012-05-15T09:31:03.080-07:00I've forwarded your reply to Kirsten so she ca...I've forwarded your reply to Kirsten so she can see how she has touched others. Wow, how amazing it must have been for you to witness your "baby" taking care of his brother. I'm finding it hard to express just how precious I think this moment must have been. I seriously think you are awesome, because you're not only "there" for your boys but are obviously managing to raise sensitive and caring young men. In this day and age that's a really hard thing to do! Thank you for inspiring us with your stories.Simonahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11557331030687858576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-370596056972161982.post-88807206764948432732012-05-14T09:40:59.683-07:002012-05-14T09:40:59.683-07:00Kirsten,
